You only get one you. Be gentle.
You are your hardest critic, and while that's the way it should be it's easy to go overboard with it. Holding yourself up to a high standard is important to push you to newer and higher limits, but be gentle with yourself. Don't deride yourself, or put yourself down, or get upset with yourself over little things.
Sometimes you'll have bad days, both in and out of the gym, and it's important to realize that sometimes that's just how it is. We all have days where the bar feels heavier, your feel like you're learning everything over again for the first time, or you just can't perform how you know you can.
In situations like that, be gentle with yourself. You'll gain nothing from getting pissed at yourself or upset with how you're doing there. Breathe, relax, remind yourself about the long term positives and do what you can; live to fight another day.
