The First Annual CrossFit 818 Combine
As I've told you about earlier, the CrossFit 818 Combine is going to be a yearly event, taking place in January. It's like a big check-in on your fitness. If you're at all curious about where you're at, if you want to set goals for yourself for the coming year, or if you just wanna experience a different kind of workout at CrossFit 818, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Here are the details:
It'll take place on Saturday January 21st at the gym, from 12 PM to 2 PM (this means there will be no Wreck Shop on this afternoon). The whole Combine will take 90 minutes total, and we'll be running two heats. Heat 1 begins at 12 PM and Heat 2 begins at 12:30 PM. Sign up sheets are on the Announcements + Community Events board, so grab a pen and put your name up.

At the start of the Combine, you'll get a partner for whom you'll be a cheerleader and score keeper. Everything will be done in turns except the mile run, which will be done all together as a heat. You'll have 30 minutes to get through each section. This is plenty of time for each partner to hit each test (and even some of the optional ones) and still get time to rest between events. The Combine is included in your membership, so come take advantage of it! Whether you just started or have been here for 7 months, this is a great chance to get a taste of a fun event at CrossFit 818 and to learn more about where you're at.

We did order a very (very very very) small number of extras, so you may just be able to get your hands on one if you haven't order it yet.
The 2012 OC Throwdown
Coach Armen will be competing at the 2012 OC Throwdown next weekend, on January 14th and 15th in Orange County. The venue hasn't been announced yet, but it'll probably be around the Costa Mesa area (a 45 minute to 1 hour drive south of here). We'd love to have as many of you as possible to come watch and experience what is sure to be a really amazing CrossFit event. Hundreds of athletes mostly from SoCal (but also from all over the nation) are going to compete in a badass CrossFit competition. Some of the best CrossFitters in the world will be there (including a past CrossFit Games Champion and more than a dozen CrossFit Games competitors).
The best part is the community is awesome, so you're gonna get a chance to meet and hang out with some really cool people from CrossFit gyms around California. Here's the link to their website and here's the link to purchase tickets.
We really want a whole lot of you to come hang out at this event, so we're canceling the Wreck Shop on Saturday January 14th. Classes will still run as usual, but after they're over, the gym will be closed. Sunday January 15th will have a normal Sunday schedule (class at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM). Hope to see you all there!
Complete 32 intervals of 20 seconds of work followed by ten seconds of rest where the first 8 intervals are ring rows, the second 8 are burpees, the third 8 intervals are med ball v-twists, and finally, the last 8 intervals are jumping lunges. There is no rest between exercises.
