A few weeks ago before the start of the CrossFit Games, I posted on the practice of calling extraordinary physical or mental feats "superhuman". Basically, when someone categorizes such a feat as "superhuman", that person is rationalizing their inability or unwillingness to acknowledge their own potential.
I love watching the Olympics because I get to see the pinnacle of human athletic performance on display. From a 16 year-old closing the last 50 meters of her medley faster than any man to a gymnast so dominant on the vault that she soars nearly six feet higher than anyone else in the world, the Olympics are when humans get to show the world how super we all really can be.
