Here's another guest post from your very own Julie Berger.
A friend of mine once mentioned that he checks in daily on what he calls “The Three L’s.” As long as he is Laughing, Learning, and Loving--he knows he is doing it right.
This got me thinking about my own “L’s” and how I measure the success of my day-to-day. Is it crushing a WOD? Impressing my bosses at work? It got me into quite the introspective state. What marks a successful, productive, and ultimately satisfying day?
I soon established my own guidelines for personal growth, achievement, and satisfaction. I noticed patterns in my journaling, and certain things that came up most often. These included: To surround myself with love and kindness, to see the good in everyone, to laugh and smile often, to make someone’s day, to feel inspired, to be in a contagiously good mood, and to stay focused and grounded.
Just like recording weights and times for your workouts, recording yourself can open the doors to progress and improvement.
It is easy to get wrapped up in gym life, to obsess over certain movements, or to have a horrible day after hang squat snatching your way through hell! That is why it is so important to ditch the dramz and check in with the most important person at 818 – you!
Knowing yourself and what makes every day as rich and fulfilling as possible is just as important as knowing how to scale the weight on your bar.
So lets all close our eyes, hold hands, and connect over a common “L” of CrossFit, and then open them and jump start our day! 3 – 2 – 1 – GO!
