The 2015 Open starts this Thursday and our first Friday Night Lights event is this Friday night starting at 5PM and ending around 7PM!
Here are some last minute details for everyone participating or interested in participating:
Friday Night Lights schedule of events
5PM - Heat sign ups open
5:10PM - Event overview, judging standards
5:30PM - First heat starts
7PM - Wrap up and recovery!
We won't know how long the workouts are until Thursday nights, so we could have 3-5 different heats with 5-7 people in each. All of that will be played by ear based on the details of the events. Essentially you should expect to come at 5PM to pick a heat and stick around after your heat to help judge and cheer on your fellow 818ers.
Each of these events is going to be AWESOME, and you're encouraged to bring your friends and family to watch and hang out during the event.
If you're on the fence about signing up for the Open, come to Friday Night Lights anyway! Registration for the Open closes on Monday 3/2 so if you wanna try it out and see what it's all about come to FNL and see how awesome this is gonna be before totally ruling it out.
How to approach the week of workouts
You can workout on Mondays and Tuesdays as normal. On Wednesdays we'll have a regular workout and an "Open Participant" workout which will have slightly less volume in order to avoid crushing you before Friday Night Lights.
I'd suggest taking Thursday off. Be sure to drink plenty of water on Thursday and spend some time stretching a little at home (or you can come into the gym and mobilize if you'd like!).
Friday is game day, so that's covered. Saturday and Sunday can be used as regular workout days or recovery days depending on how you're feeling.
Remember that if you're singed up for the Open but are unable to participate in Friday Night Lights, that's totally cool. The Open workouts will also happen during regular class on Sunday mornings and if that doesn't work please contact me to set up a time to get your workout done.
