When I think back to my first exposure of CrossFit, looking at the main site and seeing a workout that looked impossible to complete, I thought to myself, "How does anyone do this without hurting themselves?" One of the beautiful things about CrossFit is that the magic is in the movements themselves, not specifically in the weights used or the number of reps completed. Whether you're a beginner, a weekend warrior, or an elite athlete, constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensities can help you improve your fitness and live your life to the fullest.
I had the pleasure of meeting several individuals yesterday who each had varying levels of fitness and different needs. Greg had experienced CrossFit before, but had gotten busy and was interested in getting back into what he called the "much better shape" when he was doing CrossFit. Kevin is a runner and an avid soccer player, but was missing the aspects of fitness that had to with strength and power. Christian is on her feet all day and wants to strengthen and tone her entire body. Finally, Alan was looking for a good workout that he could do with his wife. At CrossFit 818, all of them, despite their individual fitness levels, needs, and goals can workout together through scalability. Intensity at CrossFit 818 is driven by the individual doing his or her best to beat the clock. I hope to see them and even more of you at our box soon!
