The month of October is upon us, the days are getting shorter, the leaves are changing color and (we hope) temperatures are getting cooler. Halloween marks the beginning of the three-month holiday season so keep an eye out here for announcements regarding exciting community events, schedule changes and other important info!
First, you'll want to keep track of what you're eating for the next couple months. This isn't so much an announcement as it is a reminder. The onslaught of sweet treats starts after dark on October 31st and ends while you're on the couch watching the Rose Parade and realize you've gained a bit of weight. Yesterday, Armen wrote about not fretting when you eat something that doesn't fit into your nutrition plan. You can effectively reduce or remove food related stress by not jamming your hand into the dishes of candy that are conspicuously placed at every desk and counter during the season - all it takes is a little self control.
And second, we will be holding our annual Costume Contest Week at the end of the month! Every day, starting on Monday, October 27th through Friday, October 31st we welcome you to show up to the gym in your Halloween costume. If you dress up we'll snap a picture that will be entered into our contest for best male and female. The winners will be announced on the blog the following week and will receive a free 818 t-shirt! We had a lot of awesome outfits last year so bring your A game if you plan on participating!
