I read once that it takes 10,000 hours of repetition or practice to master a movement. I had the pleasure of observing the CrossFitLA - CrossFit Kids program yesterday in action. A spirited young lady, approximately seven or eight years of age, displayed beautiful form on overhead squats, broad jumps, and rowing. I joked with her coach that if I had started started overhead squatting at that age, I would be an Olympic Champion today! We hear that it is "never too late to start", and while that is true, I want to make it clear that it is also never too soon to start! Don't look at a CrossFit workout and say "I'm not ready for that." One of the great aspects of CrossFit is it's scalability for men and women (and even kids) of all ages and fitness levels.
