The CrossFit Games Open starts NEXT WEEK! This is going to be so much fun, and I'm happy to announce some more details on our Friday Night Lights events.
Remember that the Open is the first step in the CrossFit Games season which culminates in the CrossFit Games in July. The Open is the first qualifying step and is called the Open because anyone can participate. Each week for 5 weeks, CrossFit will release a workout that everyone participating will complete. Each person will be judged in house and then submit their scores to the Leaderboard where they'll be ranked not only worldwide but also in their age group, region, state, city, and gym! The workouts are accessible to everyone of every level of fitness and this year there's even a Scaled division for people who cannot complete the workouts as written.
This year at CF818 we'll be running the Open as Friday Night Lights, an in house competition format that'll give you a whole new perspective on what CrossFit can be! The workouts are released on Thursday nights and everyone participating with CF818 will be getting together on Friday nights from 5PM to 7PM starting next Friday 2/27 to compete in Friday Night Lights.
Friday Night Lights will run from 5PM to 7PM, so there won't be normal evening classes at all. The gym will be open, so you can come in whenever you want but at 5PM we'll round up everyone who's participating and go over the standards of the movements and open up the heats for sign ups. You'll sign up for whatever heat you want to participate in (how many heats we run will depend on the length of the workout and the number of participants).
Even cooler, we're working with some of our favorite companies and people to make this event even more badass and fun for everyone in it. At the very first Friday Night Lights we'll have out friends from Stronger Faster Healthier present to give everyone free Pre and Post Workout shakes so you can prep for and recover from the Open workouts! We'll be hosting a couple other companies including Kill Cliff and the Wodcast Podcast who will be helping us close out the Open at the final Friday Night Lights, so this is going to be really awesome.
On top of all that, we'll be taking professional photo and video during the events and releasing all that media each week for everyone to share and see on Facebook!

Why wouldn't you sign up? You get to take your training to the next level by applying some new context to it, you get to hang out with and compete against all your friends from your normal classes at CF818 and the other classes at CF818 as well as compare yourself to everyone else in the world who's participating, you get free stuff for throwing down with all of us, you get a chance to win some prizes from CF818 and our sponsors at the end of the Open, and you get to put yourself outside of your comfort zone (which is precisely what will get you more and better results!).
And if you can't make it to Friday Night Lights? No sweat: you can make up the Open workouts on Saturday or Sunday! Boom, we've gotcha covered.
