I read an article last week about Mark Divine, the former Navy SEAL who heads up the popular SEALFIT program. In addition to posting daily workouts that are very, very difficult, he also offers a variety of events and workshops that are designed to test the mettle of those who participate. From what I've heard, completing one of the 20X or Kokoro Camps is a life changing experience and can infuse you with determination that you didn't know you were capable of.
I got to thinking about how difficult CrossFit classes can be. From my side of the line you can hear the grumbling about some thing or another that is written on the whiteboad. When I was a regular member at 818, I did it too. Whenever things get tough, I like to consider that they could be worse - the barbell could be heavier...the running could involve a weight vest... It helps add perspective to the task at hand. Today's workout might be tough, but it could be SEALFIT boot camp beat down tough, right?
We chose CrossFit because mediocrity sucks and doesn't fit into our lifestyle. Go ahead and complain about the heat, or the rain, or the running, or whatever it is that's bothering you at this very moment. Just keep in mind that whining won't make it any easier. Besides, it could always be worse.
RoRo knows the sandbag could be heavier!
