CrossFit 818 is growing so quickly and we're loving seeing all the new faces around here. The community here is incredibly respectful and definitely takes care of this place as if it were their own homes (and really, we're your home gym, so you should!), but every now and then some things get a little crazy. Here are a few things to remember as you enjoy classes here!
Bags and personal belongings must go in the back
We've got both women's and men's changing rooms with shelves and cubbies, so please take advantage of that. Leaving your personal belongings on the floor of the gym only causes clutter, takes up space, and is a safety hazard for large classes!
No open liquids are allowed on the gym floor
We know how much you love the water, and it's totally cool to have your closed water bottle on the floor (or on a box or bench or whatever), but leave your coffee and other unsealed liquids outside! Leaving your Starbucks on a bench somewhere is just inviting someone to tip it over and spill coffee all over the floor of our gym...and if you spill it, you better clean it up!
Sign in for class
As classes are getting busier and fuller, it's becoming more and more important that everyone signs in for class before showing up. Why? Well, we cap our classes for a multitude of reasons and the biggest reason is to provide the best coaching and safest environment for CrossFit we possibly can...the cap ensures that your coaches can give everyone who shows up the attention they deserve (not to mention pay for!), that everyone gets the equipment they need for the workout, and that it doesn't get dangerously crowded in the gym!
Also, the wait-list is not another spot in class! You cannot just sign up for the wait-list, show up to class, and expect to get into class. The wait-list only comes into play when the class is full, and if a spot opens up, our system will email you to let you know. Here's a surefire way to avoid this being a problem: sign-in for class as far in advance as possible! You can sign in weeks in advance, so do that...especially for the evening classes, which tend to fill up early in the day.
Let us know in advance before bringing guests
We love it when you love us enough to bring in your friends, but just like I mentioned earlier, it's important that our class caps are respected. What's this mean? Email us at least a day in advance if you're bringing a guest! We'll save your buddy a space in class and everything will be great. If you just show up to a full class with a guest, you're gonna be exposing your friend to a situation that isn't a good example of us at our best!
When buying something from the pro-shop, write down what you bought, including the color, flavor and type
You know that awesome fridge you get your waters and fish oils from? The one with the sheet of paper taped to it where you log your purchases? Well next time you buy something, be sure to include all the details about it. If you're buying fish oil, what flavor did you get? If you're buying a bag of why protein, what type is it and what flavor is it? What color lacrosse ball did you pick up? What color were the handles on the jump rope you grabbed? All of these are important details, and you should definitely include all of these! As far as buying water goes, we will not charge your credit card for water, so always bring cash if you're planning on buying water. And please make sure the fridge is completely closed after you open it!
Also, we're going to be providing you with more options of drinks and snacks through our pro-shop, so if you've got some ideas of what you want to see here, leave a suggestion in the comments. So far, we're gonna be getting coconut water, some Lara bars, and maybe a couple other little snacks. Also, we're going to be charging sales tax on your purchases starting next week!
Feel free to email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions. Thanks!
