Going heavy requires a totally different mindset than a conditioning workout. When you're lifting heavy, you've gotta attack the bar, focus all your attention on the task at hand and concentrate on succeeding. You can't think about your next meal, your afternoon meeting, that you have to call your cousin for their birthday, or anything else; all that matters when you're lifting heavy is you and the bar.
Complete concentration and complete focus along with a positive and aggressive mindset will help you massively when you're lifting heavy. Today's a great day to give it a shot!
