New Schedule Details:
Great news folks! We are having some new and exciting changes to CrossFit 818. You will notice that starting on July 7th the schedule will have all morning classes starting at 5:00am. We also added 9:30am classes on Tuesday and Thursday for those of you who are able to enjoy sleeping in! And yes childcare will be available.
We have also added 3 new classes for you to enjoy. MaxCon, Weightlifting and Skills. We encourage everyone to check them all out. The details on the class times will be after their descriptions and of course, be viewable in Front Desk.
New Class Details:
General Details -
We're going to be launching some new specialty classes as well as a new type of skills session on a trial basis. For now, all of these classes are included in everyone's existing memberships, and they count as a regular class. Skills will not count as a class during the trial run. We want you to come in, try them out, and provide us with feedback. We've spent a lot of time and effort developing and testing these, but there's always work to be done to improve the service.
Skills Sessions -
These 30 minute sessions are designed to give us the space to learn and practice movements that may not always come up in or fit into our regular classes. Think climbing the rope, using the GHD machine, juggling kettlebells (seriously!), more advanced inversions, etc.
The Skills Sessions will take place from 4:00PM - 4:30PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons, and 8:00AM - 8:30PM on Saturday morning and is open to all levels of experience.
Short for Maximum Conditioning, you can expect to be going hard for almost all of this 60 minute class. MaxCon is specifically designed to develop high levels of conditioning, so you'll be doing lots of sprint intervals with a variety of familiar and new movements as well as longer endurance based conditioning pieces.
MaxCon classes will always be organized and split into 4 segments: Construct, Control, Condition, and Conquer. Each individual piece has a specific structure that won't vary too much between classes, but the details of each piece will vary nearly every time you come into the MaxCon class.
MaxCon will take place from 6:30PM - 7:30PM on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and is open to all levels of experience.
Weightlifting Development -
The Snatch, Clean, and Jerk are the three lifts that make up the sport of weightlifting and this 60 minute class is all about improving our ability to perform these lifts. The class is designed to provide the work necessary to allow you to not only lift more weight in the snatch and clean & jerk, but also to move more efficiently so that you expend less energy in your day-to-day WODs.
The Weightlifting Development class will always provide you with a choice between Technique and Execution. Technique is all about learning and practicing very specific skills. If you choose Technique, you will be coached through a specific movement and given an hour of work on that movement. Execution is about actually getting heavy weightlifting reps in and will not have any instruction portion; instead, you'll be provided with programming that's designed to take the whole hour and are encouraged to warm up and start lifting on your own, and coaching will be provided specific to each person and their lifts.
Weightlifting Development will take place from 7:30PM - 8:30PM on Monday nights and 6:30PM - 7:30PM on Friday nights and is open to all levels of experience.
Bring-a-Friend Weekend and Referral Rewards
On July 18th, 19th and 20th we will be inviting you to participate in Bring-a-Friend Weekend! For each of those days the classes and workouts will all be team based and you are encouraged to bring your friends, family, coworkers, and anyone else who's been asking you about this whole CrossFit thing. This is a great opportunity to show your friends or family what you’ve been up to, why you love CrossFit 818 so much, and how terrible burpees really are.
If you're planning on bringing one or two people there's no need to let us know as we will be planning for lots of extra bodies, but if you're going to bring 3 or more people, please let us know in advance!
Even better, if your guest signs up that weekend they'll get a 10% discount on their membership. And since you hooked us up, we are going to hook you up: for each person that you bring that signs up, you get either an hour of personal training, an extra class per week for a month, or a t-shirt and a sweet gym bag.
