CrossFit is much more than just your plain old exercise routine.
At CrossFit 818 we treat our FITness as a school. You come sign up, commit to the program, show up to class, learn about nutrition/movements/metabolic pathways. And with consistency you get the results you want and SOME!
With the CrossFit programming everyday you get the chance to test your FITness across 10 General Physical Tasks. The better you perform across those physical tasks collectively, the better your FITness becomes. You basically now have a way to grade your FITness results.
You want to get better grades in this school? You have to study and do homework outside of class.
So what do you do when your not in class? How about some CF 818 homework???
"What kind of homework do you mean?" Well what are your weaknesses?
-Can you do 20 strict push ups in a row?
-How about consecutive Double Unders?
-Are you able to sit in the bottom of a squat on your heels for 10 minutes?
-What can you Overhead Squat?
In your CrossFit 818 WOD Journal there is a page called "Athletic Levels & Milestones". Take a look at the different levels and see where you stand within each of them. I'm guessing (no I'm actually TELLING you) your goal is to move closer and closer to the expert and elite columns.
"So how do I get there?" Well first and foremost ask your CF 818 coaches (link our coaches page). Next, there are a baazillion resources over the internet. Typically your strengths and weaknesses will be in the area's of: strength, endurance, mobility or body weight exercises.
For help in those areas: Strength: www.crossfitfootball.com Endurance: www.crossfitendurance.com Mobility: www.mobilitywod.com Body Weight: www.gymnasticswod.com
You are athlete NOW! Best way to get better is you need to train your weakness into your strengths. Onward to ELITE FITness!
The Mobility WoD with Kelly Starrett is a great way to improve your mobility and your fitness in general.
