The 2013 CrossFit Open is currently under way! This year there are over 100,000 athletes registered worldwide who are competing to see who will earn the title of fittest man and woman on the planet. For the next five weeks we will be able to test our training methods in each of the Open workouts, see how we stack up amongst each other at CrossFit 818 as well as those registered across the globe, and evaluate our training methods. In the coming weeks we will have the opportunity to identify what our strengths and weaknesses are in a competitive environment. This valuable insight can then be applied to our training as we adapt to conquer what we are not so good at while continuing to perform well in the things that we are good at.
Last year I competed alongside Armen, Arin and Mike in Legendary Competitor's "Warrior Soul" series which took place on a Saturday in August, October and December. This was my first competition outside of the challenges held at CrossFit 818 and it was an incredible experience. To say that I was excited at each event is an understatement. There was a noticeable feel that separated these competition days from the preceding weeks worth of workouts that I did as training. Being out of my element amongst athletes that I didn't know and seeing my friends and family in the crowd definitely flipped the "do or die switch" before every workout. There are a number of competitions that take place in Southern California for athletes of all skill levels and I would highly encourage anyone who is interested in competing to throw their hat in the ring and give it a shot!

We will be running this in two separate heats so Heat 2 will judge for Heat 1 and vice versa. That way when you're done, you can submit your score to the CrossFit Games website and see how you rank up against everyone else who's competing! Even if you're not participating in the Open, come to class anyway to do this workout with everyone else!
