Weaknesses/Goats/Things we are just plain stuck on...We all have them (my personal goats are heavy squats of any kind and handstand pushups). We also have movements that we excel in (box jumps and rowing). CrossFit is such a great way to test all aspects of your FITness. From Strength, to speed, stamina, flexibility, etc... Every time we enter CrossFit 818 we are practicing and reinforcing solid mechanics and improving on our FITness.
So what if you want to make your weakness a strength...like RIGHT NOW!
Well then its time to implement..."The Warmup Before, The Warmup". I'm not talking about when we start class and you run/row/jump rope to get your blood flowing before we start the warmup on the whiteboard for that particular day.
I'm talking about showing up early and getting after those one or two movements that you are committed to improving on and add it in everyday. For a Weaknesses to become a strength it is going to to take a consistent practice to overcome. If you want help with your pushups you can start the 100 Pushup Program, for added strength look at the Wendler program, and everyone can use more work on there flexibility/mobility on www.mobilitywods.com. There are quite a few students showing up early before class and beginning to work on what they need too and already starting to see improvements.
There is nothing more rewarding and motivating then watching yourself improve every time you revisit an old workout and crush your time, PR when we revisit a lift, or complete a workout RX for the 1st time!
