I had the pleasure of speaking to one of our members today regarding his training after his workout and he told me that he was feeling exhausted. After some probing, I discovered that he had been working out intensely five to six days a week without ever taking more than a couple of days off. When I asked him why he never took a few days off, doing nothing, he told me he was worried about losing the gains he had made. You cannot lose your strength or endurance in a week! In fact, our bodies need rest to recover, especially after long periods of consistent, high intensity workouts. Here's a basic introduction to overtraining.
Also remember in addition to your rest, your nutrition and supplements are an important part of proper and full recovery. As with anything, ask your coaches if you want some more insight into your volume of training and overall rest.

We've discussed the important role sleep (quality and quantity) plays in your fitness, but what about the role of rest when it comes to recovery and growth as an athlete? Many of you may be new to working out intensely for three or more days a week, while others have been working out five or more days a week for years. Regardless of which group you fall in, if you want to maximize your results then you need to make sure that you take your rest as seriously as your workout.
Contrary to what you may think, you're not building muscle when you're lifting those weights in the gym. In fact, you're actually creating small tears in your muscles when you work out. When you're not working out, your body then repairs those tears and builds the muscle fiber stronger and denser than it was before. If you don't rest enough, your body can't properly build that muscle and you're actually slowing your progress! After a couple months of intense, consistent workouts, it is probably a good idea to take a few days off to allow your body to fully recover from the wear and tear you've put it through. No, you won't suddenly lose all of your gains in just a couple days. But your body will have a chance to fully recover its energy stores, heal any small injuries, and thoroughly repair and build muscle you've earned as a result of all of your hard work.
Treat your rest like you treat your workouts and give it 100 percent!
