Many of you are seeing incredible changes physically, mentally, and emotionally over the past several weeks, but recently I have seen a couple of athletes become frustrated by what they perceive as a lack of progress when it comes to certain complex movements like the Olympic lifts or muscle-ups. Patience! These movements take weeks and months to become comfortable with and years to master. Why are they so difficult? Because these movements require not only a great deal of strength and speed, but flexibility, coordination, accuracy, and balance. Mastery in these movements takes thousands of repetitions! Also, unlike simpler movements, the Olympic lifts and muscle-ups tend to attack the athlete's weakest link in the chain. Those weaknesses and imbalances must be addressed before you can significantly progress.
The bottom line: if you're feeling frustrated over a certain movement or you feel that you're not making progress in a specific area, come talk to your coaches! We'll give you all the tools you need to overcome those obstacles. In the meanwhile, be patient, work hard, and the results will soon follow!
