Quality, Value, Price

6/3/2011

Comments

We regularly get people walking in our door asking us how much we cost... when we ask if they've heard of CrossFit or are familiar with what we do at CrossFit 818, the answer is usually "No." If you aren't familiar with the program, our cost has no context! It is one of the many reasons we offer a FREE one-on-one introduction to our program. We are not your conventional gym! Our service goes far beyond anything you've ever experienced... Lisbeth Darsh, at CrossFit LIsbeth, put it best with her blog post yesterday (thanks Lisbeth for the awesome post!):

I won’t apologize for the cost of a CrossFit membership.

I might explain what you’re getting, how you’re getting it, the results that will come, and the overall HUGE upturn your life will take if you join my merry band.

But I won’t apologize for charging what I do, because I am worth what I charge. In fact, I am worth more.

If you want quality, it costs more. Just a fact of life.

My NY Strip steak tastes better than sirloin. Costs more too.

My locally grown eggs taste better. Cost more too.

My Citizens of Humanity jeans? Much more expensive than my Levis. Fit better and look better too.

The L.A. sports surgeon who replaced the ACL in my right knee? I don’t want to know that price. Thank God for health insurance.

And yeah, those Lulus cost more. But damn my butt looks better in them than in Adidas or Nike.

You want better, you usually have to pay. Better comes as the result of more training, greater skill, and better materials.

Quality is not cheap.

Now, if you’re paying for quality and you’re getting cheap? Then you’re making a mistake.

But not in my house. Here, you’re getting what you paid for. And more.

And if you’re not, come right up and tell me. I want to make damn sure you’re getting more than what you paid for.

But I Already Have a Gym Membership...

3/29/2011

CrossFit works and, in our opinion, works better than any other general FITness program out there.

"Well why don't you put your money where your mouth is?!"

Ok. You got it!

As our opening special, from March 15, 2011 to June 15, 2011 only, if you have a local gym membership elsewhere, you will not have to pay for it. For any current CrossFit 818 members and soon to be CrossFit 818 members, bring in your current 'other' local gym membership contract and we will knock off what you're paying up to $30 each month for the life of your initial commitment with us. This also counts for upgrades before June 15th for all you current members!

No more paying for two gym memberships and no more excuses!

If you like your current gym, that's okay too. You can still go, but the cool thing is you can complement what you already do with some of what we are doing.

If you are bored with your current gym routine, try ours and don't do the same old routine day in and day out.

If you haven't gotten results from your current gym routine or you have plateaued, then try ours and see what we are made of.

Basically, now is the time to put us to the test. We are 100% confident that our program works!

If you are up for a challenge, no place will push you, motivate you, challenge you, and coach you to your absolute best like CrossFit 818.

Lets get it ON!

Yeah, CrossFit is "Expensive"... But the Alternative is Unacceptable!

3/22/2011

I cringe most of the time when I’m asked that question…”how much does it cost?” I know it’s shocking at first, and there are many personal trainers/gyms who charge twice and three times what we do, and I still think we're “too expensive”.

Let me back up a bit. I don’t really think we're too expensive. I think we're perceived as too expensive. What’s too expensive is a sedentary lifestyle and poor diet that leads to countless ailments. That crap is expensive. Add up your medical bills this year. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

And not just what you pay out of pocket, but all those statements you get from your insurance company too.  Remember to include cold medicines, upset stomach relief, expensive acne treatments, and over-priced “health foods”.

The masses (that’s you) pour their cash, and the cash of others (that’s me), into bottomless pits; searching for immediate relief of what ails them, and a quick burst of “glee”. None of which is lasting, or credible.

CrossFit, and the nutritional advice we espouse, will lower these costs drastically. Over the near term, you will be challenged, exhausted, elated, and hopeful. Over the long term, you’ll be healthier by being stronger, leaner and faster. Your immune system will boosted by hormonal balance and optimum nutrient intake.

Additionally, think of the lowered costs of your family’s health care by the positive example you begin to be to them. Two parents who CrossFit, and eat Paleo, will in-turn hopefully feed their children the same way, and encourage them to stay active as well. What better gift are you giving your children than a healthy, long, active life?

In a world that is bent on selling you the quick fix, and the quick fix for your quick fix that didn’t fix anything quick…. why not try the alternative? Why not try working for something, instead of buying something? Let’s earn our health! We may all set goals for our max deadlift or 5K run times, but the real reward isn’t in achieving that goal, it’s the ability to set another goal after that, and another after that. Longevity.

Yeah, CrossFit is expensive. But the alternative should be unacceptable.
