When did you first start CrossFitting?:
When did you first start training at CF 818?:
Tell us about your sports and fitness background:
I’ve enjoyed being active since I can remember with tennis, hiking and yoga. In school, exercise was a way for me to relax and get a healthy break from my studies.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD...what was it, and how did it feel?
I was looking for a way to change up my fitness routine when I found CrossFit. The details of my first WOD are a bit fuzzy, but I remember physically it was intense and everything was sore for the next week. More than the sweat and tiredness, I remember feeling good afterward for having finished something challenging.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CF (before/after)?:
I have much more energy, and feel leaner and stronger since I’ve started CrossFit. When I work out regularly, I also find myself eating healthier.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected?
An unexpected part is all the wonderful people I’ve met in the CrossFit community. It is much more motivating for me to be working out with a group of my friends than by myself.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CF 818 moments:
My favorite CrossFit moment is a compilation of the exact moments when you finish a workout multiplied over 3 1/2 years. When I finish an especially tough WOD, I imagine it’s like the feeling mountain climbers must get when they reach the peak: I feel like I can accomplish anything.
Any advice for people just getting started?
The most important advice is to show up regardless of your fitness level and not be intimidated by the workout that’s posted. Everyone here has had a first day where they didn’t know a burpee from a kettlebell swing and no one here is perfect.
What are your hobbies, interests and/or talents outside of CrossFit?
I’m genuinely passionate about helping people and I feel blessed to be able to do this for a living as a doctor. I love to read and listen to music, but my favorite fun activity is traveling and experiencing new places and cultures.
A. 1RM 3 position clean
B. EMOTM 8:
5 toes to bar and 5 burpees
rest 2 minutes ..then..
5 box jumps (24/20) and 5 kb swings (53/35, USA)
