Here's a guest blog post from your very own CF818er, Julie Berger!
Last week I dropped a pencil underneath my desk and from the amount of groaning and complaining I put into retrieving it, you’d think I was doing double Murph or climbing Everest.
This brought to light the simple reality that anything you don’t want to do, no matter how big or small, sucks. Lifting 70 pounds sucks just as much as lifting 75, running two laps is just as unpleasant as running one, and often times, bending over to get something you dropped is just as soul crushing as squatting a metric ton.
When it comes to exercise, chores, work, and lets face it, nutrition, no matter how many times someone breaks down the logic behind making the best choices, our hearts always seem to covet eating Nutella in a snuggie…or something.
Life can seem like a constant battle between your head and your heart, between what is best for you and what you desire, between picking the weight up off the floor or staying home for a couch WOD.
I’m here to tell you that the battle officially ends here! Accept the fact that there will always be a large discrepancy between what is best for you in the long run and the instant gratification you crave. So agree to disagree and challenge yourself! Put a little extra weight on the bar, move a little more quickly, and practice that movement you hate-- you may as well!
So lets all take this moment to renounce our title as Mayor of Struggle Island, catch the first bus out of Strug-City, and give in to reality. Challenge yo’self now so you can treat yo’self later.
Sound off in the comments today with shout outs to fellow 818’ers you see giving it their all during the WOD!
PS: Next Monday night from 7:40PM-8:30PM we'll be having our first Mobility class. It doesn't count as one of your WODs, and you don't need to reserve a spot, so feel free to come on by and get your bendy on!
Also, this Saturday marks the 5th birthday of the Lululemon store at the Americana and they're inviting everyone out to enjoy an afternoon of snacks and demos from their ambassadors, including one put on by me! The fun times run from 12PM-5PM, and I'll be between 2 and 2:30PM! Hope to see you there :)
