This weekend, I will be competing in a the second annual OC Throwdown, a two-day CrossFit competition. The event will give me the opportunity to test my fitness in a competitive environment. Why is this important? While CrossFit creates a high intensity environment in its workouts by incorporating a running clock, nothing can quite replicate the adrenaline rush of dozens of athletes surrounded by hundreds of cheering onlookers. In this environment, some athletes are able to surpass their best training numbers by feeding off that energy and focusing it in a constructive way. Yes, the opposite can also happen, but in my case I have always performed my best in a competitive environment.
When do you perform your best? (In or out of competition?)
