We all know those people who just seem comfortable in their own skin. They know who they are, what they're trying to accomplish, and everything they do seems to reinforce that. They're never sorry about being themselves and they rarely do things just for the sake of fitting in or because everyone else is doing it.
I recently heard an amusing story about Bobby Knight (a Hall of Fame Basketball Coach and third winning-est coach in NCAA basketball history) that drives this point home. Coach Knight was walking with a friend when he saw one of his players coming out of a restaurant with his girlfriend. The player was a 6'11" center who at the time was struggling with his rebounding and post play. Coach Knight noticed that the player's girlfriend was very short. The next day, he called the player into his office and asked him how tall his girlfriend was. The player replied that she was 4'10" and Coach Knight got upset. Knight basically said, "Your problem is that you don't know who you are... You're a tall guy who wants to be short and that's why you can't rebound or play in the post! Find yourself a girl who's 5'10" and stop fighting what you are: a very tall guy!"
